Frequently asked questions
- Is Baytril for rabbits the same as the version my vet dispenses?

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate inspects every approved online pharmacy on the same cycle as a practice dispensary.
- When will live Baytril pricing be available on Vet Bill Saver?
- Rabbit medication pricing rolls out through summer 2026 (D2). Sign up on this page and we will email you the moment Baytril pricing goes live at any of the six VMD-approved UK online pharmacies.
- Do I need a prescription to order Baytril for rabbits?
- Yes. Baytril is a POM-V product and requires a written prescription from a UK-registered vet. From 23 September 2026 the CMA Order caps the prescription fee at £21 for the first medicine plus £12.50 per additional medicine on the same prescription.

Broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic used off-label in rabbits for Pasteurella multocida (snuffles), Bordetella and atypical respiratory infections. Often the second-line antibiotic when enrofloxacin (Baytril) is unsuitable.
Antibiotics
Cefalexin
First-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used off-label in rabbits for skin infections, abscesses and some urinary tract infections. Avoided by some rabbit-savvy vets due to GI dysbiosis risk — used with caution and probiotic support.
Antibiotics
Marbocyl
Fluoroquinolone antibiotic, used off-label in rabbits as an alternative to enrofloxacin (Baytril). Sometimes preferred for once-daily dosing convenience. Same fluoroquinolone class — not for juveniles whose growth plates are open.
