Frequently asked questions
- Is Fenbendazole injection for rabbits the same as the version my vet dispenses?
- Yes. UK VMD-approved online pharmacies dispense the same manufacturer-branded product in identical packaging as your vet practice. The supply chain origin is the manufacturer in both cases. The Veterinary Medicines Directorate inspects every approved online pharmacy on the same cycle as a practice dispensary.

- Rabbit medication pricing rolls out through summer 2026 (D2). Sign up on this page and we will email you the moment Fenbendazole injection pricing goes live at any of the six VMD-approved UK online pharmacies.
- Do I need a prescription to order Fenbendazole injection for rabbits?
- Yes. Fenbendazole injection is a POM-V product and requires a written prescription from a UK-registered vet. From 23 September 2026 the CMA Order caps the prescription fee at £21 for the first medicine plus £12.50 per additional medicine on the same prescription.
Other parasites medications for rabbits
Parasites
Panacur
Broad-spectrum wormer for rabbits; the standard 28-day course is also used prophylactically and therapeutically for E. cuniculi (Encephalitozoon cuniculi).
Parasites
Ivermectin
Parasiticide used in rabbits for ear mites (Psoroptes cuniculi), fur mites and selected ectoparasites; not effective against E. cuniculi.
Parasites
Ponazuril
First-line treatment for Encephalitozoon cuniculi (E. cuniculi) — the protozoal parasite responsible for head tilt, hindlimb weakness and kidney damage in rabbits. Used off-label in UK rabbits; your vet sources from compounding pharmacies.
Parasites
Albendazole
Antiparasitic licensed in livestock but used off-label in rabbits as an alternative to fenbendazole (Panacur) for E. cuniculi. Some vets prefer it for refractory cases; bone-marrow suppression risk means routine bloodwork during long courses.
Parasites
Stronghold (selamectin)
Topical parasiticide licensed for dogs and cats but used off-label in rabbits for ear mites (Psoroptes cuniculi), fur mites (Cheyletiella) and fleas. The cat formulation is most often chosen for rabbits; dose by weight, never the dog formulation.
